me on flickr

I have been thinking of starting an account on flickr since forever. Finally this week I just did it!
It will be the extension of Hazels Soup here at the world wide web.
My flickr page will contain everything from images from different blog posts as well as a lot of other things.

Wednesday 28 September 2011

This time I won't go picture overload on you, I will try to make it simple and clean with a few details from my home, okay, okay! Here we go then...
On a shelf, as close to the ceiling as it gets, are four pretty french lemonade bottles that's just waiting to be used! Soon, very soon! Promise!
I've tried to make it all autumnal at home... which basically means switching some decor stuff to other decor stuff. So nothing major! But the photo above is typical of what have happened during the last few days at my house.
Our tomato plants have been moving inside as well, they are hiding behind the curtain in our living room. It's far too cold to sleep outside now days!
With autumn come darker days, so we get a lot of use for all our lamps and candle holders. O love it, I love lamps, more on that another time though. However these three beauties are hanging in our living room.

The Orla Kiely Summer 2012 Film

Orla Kiely I might be your biggest fan, at night I dream about your creations and during the day it's all I can think of.

The Tourist!

We had a day this weekend when we decided to go all tourists in our fairly new town.
A little sightseeing!
It was this beautiful day, the sun was shining, just perfect (I promise you we have had our fair share of rain since we moved over here, it has been crazy, London all over again)
I think Norwegian people have a thing for avenues made out of trees, I think this might be their thing (in addition to cross country skiing and brown cheese of course)

Autumn is so beautiful in Scandinavia, I had almost forgot the changing colours and the not-warm-nor-cold- temperatures. But you just wait four months, my tone to Scandinavia will change, then it will be warnings for heavy swearing!

Perfect weather for me: flats, leggings or tights, a beret and good chances to take the sailor jacket off
Nice view overlooking the Oslo fjord
Since that time at the circus my son has been obsessed with elephants. Here's me trying to convince my son that the prospects of us finding an elephants that particular day was not that good... but... but! One could never know! Safe to say however, we did not meet any elephants that day! Unfortunately!

MY BITS + PIECES

I really enjoy to make the "Bits + Pieces post" like seen over at the Bluebird. Maybe I'll make it onto my Monday routine here at Hazels Soup (even though this particular bits+pieces post isn't that super hot and exiting, it can totally be over time, just give some practice)

Photo one: a hide and seek, catch me if you can kind of game, in the park
Photo two: a nice and sunny day, Oslo at it's best
Photo three: still warm enough to wear flats
Photo four: avenue of large trees
Photo five: my son photographing his pillow, cant you tell... it's Lightning McQueen! Of course!
Photo six: Me giving tiredness a face

advice from the stain coach...

To get gum out! (You probably just sit in gum once though, if you have sat down in it once, you always watch where you plant your behind in the future).
Anyway, I always thought that the best way to deal with this kind of "stains" is to put the garment in the freezer, but I'm sad to say that it only seems to work if you have like an industrial freezer.
Here's what you should do: Spread egg white on the gum, let it dry and then you can peel it all away, it totally worked for me.

I see red

Here's some worthless knowledge/information for you: Red has always been one of my favourite colours,(as yellow, brown, green and blue). But, red has a special place in my heart for some reason.
However, I have never owned a dress in red before, strange really, (I'm proud to say I don't own even one pair of trousers). So I think I need to invest in a red dress this fall.
Red -shoes, -coat, -purses, -lipstick, -nail polish & accessories is all part of my wardrobe though.
That's settles it! A red dress for my wardrobe in 2011 (or maybe 2012). Now I'm rambling again! Boring!
New heart shaped earrings, how cute are those!? In red too, of course! I haven't used real earrings in eleven years. Think these once was a pretty perfect buy for my first pair in so many years!
... I like them a lot! A nice choice!
I'm also in love with the collar on my TBA dress
in my opinion the little red button is the icing on the cake!
Strawberries are red, stupid really, but I bought strawberries yesterday, perfectly ripe too. That's not so easy to come by this time of the year in Scandinavia. So they got to pose as something red.
Ridiculous photo, but who cares, I probably look ridiculous most of the time anyway (and you know what, that's totally fine by me, it's much more fun that way). Anyway, the nail polish is what I wanted to show, I bought it last week, and it's in a perfect red shade. I chose from a burgundy and a little brighter red and the burgundy just had to wait until next time.
Wish you all a fantastic Wednesday!

at the circus

So two weeks ago we went to the circus, I know what some of you might think about that, I know there's different opinions about the animals and so on. But here in Scandinavia there's really tight regulations.

Anyway that's not what this post is about and I don't want to get further or deeper in to the subject at the moment, I just want to show you some photos of our great time at the circus. It was only me who had been once before, but we will surely go again if the opportunity present itself. It was amazing!
This is before the show starts, my son was amazed with the huge stars and the big disco ball in the tent ceiling, he had seen nothing yet!
I can actually report that I tried to make my son taste candy-floss, but he didn't even want to touch it, good boy! We ended up giving it away to a very happy little girl (with her parents approval, of course)

Cowboys/Cowgirls on a circus, I would never have guessed! They where pretty good too, the girl lost her clothes to some sort of a lasso whip... great fun!

This performance was just so beautiful, can´t even comprehend how she did this on a stick, several feet in the air without anything but a guy's shoulder as support
and the main attraction! My son was so exited about the elephant, his jaw dropped to the floor when the elephant entered the circus ring!
It was such a nice afternoon!

apples, bicycles and sunshine

We took our bicycles(for what I think might be the last time before it gets to cold with a toddler in the back)out for a spin a couple of days ago(well to be honest it should be 2 weeks ago when I think about it). Anyway there is this glade with apple trees not to far from our home. Just a bike ride away!

We where thinking: "apple pies, apple jam, applesauce, apple cake"... It's always nice to peel some apples, chop them up and put them in the freezer if they are for free. I mean we can cook and bake "apple-whatever" all winter long!

So we picked some apples:
it was a pleasant bike ride with wonderful surroundings, as most times in Norway when out and about

well, the two male parts of the family started to pick apples as soon as there feet touched the ground
one of them was moving a little bit faster then the other...
... however not climbing as high...
... but, kudos for trying!
they where picking apples...
... and I, well, I ate them! But someone had to be in charge of the quality, right!? For the record they tasted excellent
did I mention that it was a beautiful day, summer came back for a few short hours that afternoon
Our bag was full with apples at the end, so we took our bicycles and headed home!

Have you seen Mr F. Fox!?

"Mr F. Fox dreams of moving to Paris, he wants to cook, he want to study art and see the Eiffel Tower at midnight. Mr F. Fox is one of those who escaped from Central Park Zoo, a cold and misty November morning a couple of years ago. He has an expensive taste in fine jewelry and champagne. He comes out at night as the park closes and if you are lucky you might catch a glimpse of him up by 68th to 71st street"
Well, he makes a rare trip during the day to Strawberry Fields every now and then, just because it's his favourite place in Central Park, how else would I be able to make a sketch out of him? (One might wonder). Here he's sporting a Proenza Schouler neckless from the fall of 2011 collection.

funny video!

Debated with myself whether I should post this clip or not... But I can't resist, it's too hilarious not to share.
A little waring though! It's Norwegian and as in all of the Scandinavian countries we are quite outspoken, so there is a lot of dirty lyrics in this video. It's nothing for people that easily blushes and nothing for tiny ears! Nevertheless very funny and very well done I might add!
Enjoy and have a nice weekend everyone!
